Language Work
HOW IT ALL STARTED…
ESL: When Aaron Bluestein visited his local supermarket in 2001, he noticed that foreign employees had difficulty answering customers’ questions. Having already taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to foreigners for eight years, Aaron knew many ESL classes had two and three-year waiting lists in Massachusetts. These immigrants needed an alternative, more immediate way to acquire English language skills. He decided to approach the management team of that very same supermarket with his idea of teaching on-site ESL classes and they were excited by the opportunity. This language program promised to improve customer service while giving employees the necessary tools to advance within the company. Through this first endeavor, Language While You Work’s innovative program was created, tested, and proven to support both the business and its employees.
“The English class helped me 100 percent. I remember that I didn’t even know the verb “to be,” and I couldn’t have a good relationship with the people I worked with because I couldn’t communicate. It opened my ears to understand and my mind to speak.”
